Serenity Beach Rentals shares answers to the most commonly asked questions from travelers planning a visit to Port St. Joe, Cape San Blas and Mexico Beach.

Q:  What are the average temperatures throughout the year?

Q:  What time zone is the area located in?

A:  Although your devices may not reflect such, Cape San Blas, Port St. Joe and St. Joe Beach are all Eastern Time Zone, and Mexico Beach is Central Time Zone.  If you get confused (we all do) you can do a simple Google search for “current local time in _______” to reveal the current local time of your location.

Q:  Are golf carts permitted on Cape San Blas Road and/or on Hwy 98 in St. Joe Beach and Mexico Beach?

A:  No.  Golf carts are not permitted on Cape San Blas Road or on the bike path on Cape San Blas.  Golf carts are not permitted on Hwy 98 in St. Joe Beach and Mexico Beach or on the sidewalk on Hwy 98.

Q:  Are bonfires permitted on the beach?

A:  Bonfires are permitted on the beach on Cape San Blas and in St. Joe Beach.  The fire may not be within 100 feet of any structure, and all remnants must be extinguished and removed from the beach that same day.  All items other than natural wood are prohibited (i.e., pallets, wood containing screws or nails, pressure treated wood, etc.).  Bonfires are not permitted on the beach in Mexico Beach.

Q:  Are dogs permitted on the beach?

A:  Dogs are permitted on the beach on Cape San Blas and in St. Joe Beach.  Dogs must be on a leash at all times (it’s the law) and you are required to remove any pet waste (there are a number of pet waste disposal stations along the beach but be sure to bring your pet waste bags just to be safe).  Dogs are not permitted on the beach within St. Joseph Peninsula State Park or on the beach in Mexico Beach.

Q:  Can I leave my things on the beach overnight?

A:  No.  Any and all unattended items must be removed from the beach daily no later than 1 hour after sunset and may be placed back on the beach after sunrise the following day.
